Atlantic Home Building & Renovation Sector Council Announces Five New Board Members
Halifax, Nova Scotia – Atlantic Home Building & Renovation Sector Council is proud to announce the appointment of five accomplished professionals to its Board of Directors. These new board members bring extensive leadership experience in construction, human resources, Indigenous economic development, and community engagement, strengthening the organization’s capacity to deliver innovative housing solutions and inclusive workforce development across Nova Scotia.
Meet the New Board Members:
Steven Pointon
CEO and Operator, Beloved Construction Inc., Stellarton, N.S.
With over 14 years leading Beloved Construction Inc., Steven brings a deep understanding of efficient residential building practices. Now transitioning his company to Beloved Homes and Rentals, Steven is focused on helping individuals access affordable housing. A Red Seal-certified carpenter and proud NSCC graduate, he is also a passionate advocate for making carpentry a compulsory trade in Nova Scotia.
Alex Paul
Executive Director, Mi’kmaw Economic Benefits Office (MEBO)
A recognized leader in Indigenous economic development, Alex has worked for over 25 years to create meaningful employment and contract opportunities for Indigenous peoples in Nova Scotia. His work with MEBO has helped shape workforce and procurement practices across industry and government, and he was recently awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal for his service to community and province.
Brittany Stanton
Project Manager/Designer, Rice Renovations & Construction Inc., Bear River, N.S.
Brittany brings a unique blend of non-profit experience and design expertise, along with a deep commitment to inclusive and community-centered growth. Her background in project management, administration, and cross-sector collaboration makes her a valuable addition to the board’s strategic planning and outreach efforts.
Amr Al-Hammadi
Director of Construction, FH Development Group Ltd., Halifax, N.S.
A professional engineer and experienced construction leader, Amr has overseen numerous multi-unit residential developments in the Halifax region. His dedication to quality construction, efficient project delivery, and community service — particularly with youth and newcomer populations — aligns strongly with the organization’s mission.
Betsy Sisco
Director of Human Resources, DORA Construction Ltd., Halifax, N.S.
With more than 15 years in Human Resources, Betsy is a CEIA Certified Inclusive Leadership Specialist known for building inclusive, high-performing teams. Her experience in strategic workforce planning, recruitment, and immigration pathways is a major asset to supporting sustainable workforce growth in the construction sector.
